Here is the Art Director Resume example:

Art directors work with the design staff of magazines, newspapers, production studios, advertising agencies, and public relations firms. They are responsible for the design and visual style of projects. These professionals direct the artists and designers who work on creating the images and graphic layouts to realize that design. Art directors must have extraordinary creativity and must also be able to communicate their creative vision to others.

An art director resume should include education and past work experiences. A bachelor’s degree in an art or design field is required for this position. Moreover, this is a highly desirable position and there is much competition to obtain it. Past work experience in directing or art occupations, such as a graphic designer, editor, photographer, etc., can go a long way to convincing an employer of a candidate’s qualifications. Below are three art director resume formats that illustrate applications from different experience levels.

Entry-Level Resume

An art director is not a typical entry-level position. The candidate not only needs relevant education but must also prove that he or she is capable of managing a team of artists who may potentially have differing opinions on the direction of the project. Still, if the candidate has the requisite education, there is a possibility of being the art director for a small company. In the art director resume example below, Ms. Thompson displays her leadership skills by describing her role as the director of her high school’s art fair in the volunteer experience field.
