Dentist Recommendation Letter

A dentist recommendation letter can be written by a professor at a dental school, a supervising dentist, a colleague or even a satisfied patient. Such a letter is typically written on behalf of a dental student who has recently graduated or an established dentist seeking employment in a dental practice.

Sample:

This sample dentist recommendation letter is written by a dental school professor on behalf of a student who recently graduated with honors from an accredited dental program. The student has since passed all board examinations, has become a licensed dentist and is currently seeking employment in a private dental practice.

Dear Dr. Montgomery:

I am writing this letter on behalf of Dr. Samantha Rogers who is a recent graduate of XYZ University School of Dentistry. Samantha graduated with highest honors and went on to immediately pass her board examinations. She is now a licensed dentist in the state of Kentucky seeking her first position in a private dental practice. Samantha took part in a year-long internship with a large dental practice where her supervising dentists gave her exceptionally high marks.

According to reports detailing her internship, Samantha took and interpreted x-rays, diagnosed dental problems and implemented treatment plans. She skillfully applied sealants to children’s teeth and fixed broken and chipped teeth on adults. Samantha filled many cavities, extracted teeth and performed numerous root canals during her internship. She has also provided basic dental services to patients who receive care at the university dental school.

During her internship Samantha demonstrated excellent skills at taking molds for and prescribing dentures. She gave explicit instructions for the making of dentures and supervised their fitting. She also demonstrated a special talent for working with the elderly patients in the practice calming their nerves and making them feel comfortable with their dentures. She was clear and precise when explaining the proper care of dentures and patiently answered all questions thoroughly.

Samantha visited public elementary schools in the community to do a presentation targeted toward children. She explained in an entertaining and animated way the importance of the proper care of teeth and gums. She demonstrated proper brushing and flossing techniques using a puppet she created, and explained the consequences of too many sugary drinks and snacks.

Additionally, Samantha demonstrated a clear understanding of the administrative side of dentistry by successfully communicating with suppliers and maintaining detailed patient records using computer technology. She also effectively supervised dental hygienists and assistants all of whom expressed admiration and respect for her. I believe Samantha has a promising career as a dentist.

It is with great pleasure that I recommend Dr. Samantha Rogers for the available position of dentist in your practice. I hope that you will seriously consider her qualifications and afford her the opportunity to work in your dental practice. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
