Design Release Engineer Responsibilities and Duties

Develop and maintain Statement of Requirements (SOR) & Component Technical Specifications (CTS).

Balance ‘top down’ system requirements with key component metrics.

Collaborate with design & analysis groups to create 3D math models (CAD) and analytical models (FEA, CFD etc).

Evaluate prototype designs to verify functional requirements and conduct design revisions.

Select qualified production suppliers working with purchasing and supplier base.

Ensure compliance to company Powertrain bill of material, design & process.

Prepare Design Failure Modes Effects Analysis.

Define Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for component parts.

Negotiate and acquire agreement with interfacing components.

Implement analysis techniques including Finite Element and Modal Analysis at component level to validate all designs.

Develop component level time lines to control product from initial creation through final vehicle validation.

Manage design release cost including piece cost and tooling.

Develop and conduct component level tests, analyze data, develop conclusions, and manage design revisions.

Ensure parts are delivered on time and to print working with materials management, purchasing, and supplier quality.

Assist in developing engineering designs and implement engineering changes.
