Position Description

A clinical analyst performs tasks that involve analyzing user procedures, requirements and any problems to improve an existing computer system, and also reviews the system’s capabilities and workflows to find other areas that need improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Clinical Analyst

  • Develops new system design procedures.
  • Documents test procedures.
  • Revises quality standards.
  • Assists staff and users computer malfunctions and program glitches.
  • Tests, maintains and monitors a system’s existing programs.
  • Meets with management to ensure all are on the same page in regards to computer system principles.
  • Expands computer system to serve new purposes.
  • Modifies computer system to improve workflow.
  • Evaluates pre-developed applications and adapts them for system users.
  • Recommends new and updated software packages and hardware to management.
  • Meets with clients to assess their needs and explain how system works.
  • Participates in continuing education activities to find ways to improve or enhance the computer system for users.
  • Trains new staff on the system and trains existing staff on upgrades.
  • Conducts reviews to locate code problems and writes new code to correct the problems.
  • Links all computer systems in a network to enhance compatibility and to enable users to share information.
  • Uses techniques like data modeling, information engineering and structured analysis to design new computer systems.
  • Prepares information for management on return on investment and cost benefit to aid in decisions regarding the purchase of new

    computer equipment.

  • Experience as an entry level systems analyst.

Work Environment

  • Must be able to work regular hours of Monday through Friday 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m.
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends to meet implementation deadlines.
  • Time is spent looking at a computer screen, keyboarding and manipulating a mouse.
  • Must be able to lift heavy equipment like monitors and computer cases.
  • Time is spent going to different departments and possibly different branch offices to address computer issues.

Salary

  • Salaries range from $60,000 to $100,000 depending on the size of the employer, the extent of the responsibilities, the level of education and the years of services.
  • Hourly wages range from $25 to $55.
