Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Business Architect

  • Creates a blueprint that defines the way in which the various departments in a company are integrated.
  • Tracks regulatory, market and economic trends.
  • Evaluates the economic health of the company.
  • Determines opportunities to grow the business.
  • Ensures that business models are in keeping with the company’s mission statement.
  • Collects information from market analysts.
  • Works with vendors and consultants to find ways to improve the company’s products and services.
  • Works with the management team to streamline processes, save money and generate more revenue.
  • Serves as a liaison between the executive office and front line staff.
  • Analyzes customer needs and ensures that the company is meeting those needs.
  • Designs and puts into practice improvement and business transformation initiatives.
  • Measures the company’s efficiency and overall performance.
  • Designs and implements strategies to improve efficiency.
  • Helps develop and maintain software that supports the company’s processes.
  • Eliminates job duties of staff that do not add value to the company’s daily functions.
  • Reorganizes the company’s process flow to better utilize resources.
  • Acts as a liaison between business managers and information technology staff.
  • Evaluates ideas for new products and services.
  • Evaluates new technologies to determine their potential to grow the company.
  • Transfers ideas to research and development and eventually to workable projects.
  • Collaborates with different departments to get new projects off the ground.
  • Tracks errors and formulates a plan to prevent future errors of the same type.
  • Delivers enhanced value to clients and customers.
  • Revamps the organizational structure of a business.
  • Manages financial plans and budgets.
  • Conducts presentation of proposed business model or plan for company executives or board of directors.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or other business-related field.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration.
  • Experience as a market analyst, sales manager, supply chain analyst or business manager.
  • Certified Business Architect designation.
  • Experience with building business models.
  • Membership in the Business Architects Association.

Work Environment

  • Must be willing to work long hours, particularly when implementing a new program or process.
  • Must be able to travel to branch offices when working for a company that has multiple locations.
  • Time will be spent looking at a computer screen.
  • Time will be spent in long departmental and executive meetings.

Salary

  • Salaries range from $90,000 to $150,000 depending on the area of the country in which the company is located.
