Here is the Exceptional Special Needs Assistant Cover Letter Example:

Dear Ms. Rawls,

With regards to your posting for a Special Needs Assistant, I would like to offer myself as a candidate for the job. I am a highly qualified teaching assistant, with more than fifteen years’ experience assisting students with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorders.

I completed the Special Education Assistant program at Capilano University, where my focus was on children with pervasive developmental delays. I also have current certification in emergency first aid and CPR, lifting techniques, nonviolent crisis intervention (NCVI) and basic sign language.

My current posting is as an education assistant in a self-contained special education classroom in a small high school. I assist the special education teacher with lesson planning and delivery, teaching daily living skills, and student supervision. Under the direction of a physiotherapist, I lead the students in an adapted physical education program. I also run a practical skills program in which students learn to budget, shop and prepare meals, and gain experience accomplishing tasks such as managing a recycling collection service and serving hot meals to staff members.

As a member of the school-based multidisciplinary team, I take an active role in developing and implementing student IEPs. I maintain regular communication with students’ families, and am conscientious when it comes to recording each student’s progress. I am a warm and open person, but I believe in challenging students to do their best. I expect them to work hard, and they take pleasure in their achievements!

I would very much like to meet with you to further discuss the job. Please feel free to contact me at (555)-555-5555.

Respectfully,

Signature

Mary Gilbert
