Sample Restaurant Resignation Letter

Posted in Resignation Letters

If you have to give up your job working at a restaurant for some reason, maintain your professionalism by going through the proper process of resignation. One of the first things you should do is write a restaurant resignation letter and send it in to your boss. This is a great way to demonstrate your integrity and show that you have no hard feelings toward your employers. Try the following strategies for writing a professional, gracious letter that could even increase your chances of receiving a positive reference.

Format and Content
A successful restaurant resignation letter format is written formally with proper spelling throughout. It should begin with letting your boss know that you will soon be leaving the restaurant, and on what date. Try to give at least two weeks’ notice so that your boss can find someone to take over for you. If you are willing to help train that person, make a note of that in your letter followed by your contact details. Don’t forget to say how much you appreciate the job opportunity and all the experience you were able to earn. You should take about three short paragraphs to express this information.

Sample
A good restaurant resignation letter sample from a professional cook can help you out since he is in a similar situation. He has accepted a different position from a new employer. He lets his soon-to-be-former boss know about his plans via this formal letter, letting her what his intentions are and thanking her for the job experience he earned.

Dear Ms. Peters,
I am writing to let you know that I am resigning from my position as head cook at ABC Family Restaurant. I have recently been offered a position elsewhere that I believe will better help me to reach my career goals, and have decided to accept. My last day of work at ABC Family Restaurant will be June 15, 2014, so I hope that you will understand and accept this letter as my official two weeks’ notice of resignation.
I hope that my moving on from the restaurant will not cause any inconvenience to you or the customers. I will of course continue to work as hard as ever during my last two weeks and am also willing to help train a replacement cook, if needed. Feel free to call me any time at (555)555-5555 or email me at [email] if you would like to discuss this matter with me further and I will return messages as quickly as possible.
I have enjoyed working at ABC Family Restaurant and will miss the great environment and staff. I am of course grateful for the excellent experience I have earned and know it will serve me well in my future endeavors. I wish ABC Family Restaurant continued success and thank you for your patience and cooperation with me at this time.
Yours sincerely,
Martin Frederick
