Traffic Engineer Responsibilities and Duties

Plan, design and supervise construction of varied types and aspects of public works engineering projects.

Recommend and provide reports to entire city departments pertinent engineering issues.

Represent city as liaison with federal and state agencies plus public.

Instruct and train subordinate engineers as well as engineering technicians.

Participate in meetings as well as provide reports to all city boards plus departments.

Participate to plan long and short-term goals, budget and operations of Bureau of Engineering.

Direct and monitor continuously entire traffic engineering, signal plus sign shop operations.

Conduct and oversee traffic plus transportation investigations.

Record data as well as findings as per standards established by Minnesota Department of Trans, Federal Highways or various transportation organizations.

Recommend traffic safety enhancement projects on basis of respective studies.

Manage development review process as well as highway permit process.

Ensure compliance to all department standards.

Reviews plats as well as highway permits as needed by department.

Head responsibility for traffic planning as well as program needs of division.

Plan, supervise and recommend traffic associated policy, initiatives and priorities.
