Position Description
A store clerk welcomes customers, helps them locate items, promotes the features and benefits of items in the store, assists cashiers in ringing up purchases, and restocks items as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Store Clerk
•Greets customers.
•Assists customers in locating items on the sales floor.
•Retrieves items from the stockroom as needed.
•Calls partner stores to locate and hold items when necessary.
•Explains product features and benefits to customers.
•Overcomes customer objections to persuade them to make a purchase.
•Processes register transactions.
•Assists in taking store inventory.
•Maintains inventory records.
•Unloads deliveries in the stockroom.
•Checks delivered items against packing slip to ensure accuracy.
•Alerts manager to any delivery discrepancies.
•Restocks items on the sales floor.
•Pulls expired or out of date items from the shelves.
•Makes sure store is neat and well organized.
•Helps clean the store during closing shifts.
•Answers customer questions about items in stock.
•Addresses and resolves customer issues and concerns.
•Refers customers to manager as necessary.
•Answers store telephones, assists callers, and/or transfers calls to appropriate departments.
•Reports any issues or concerns to store manager.
•Attends staff meetings.

•Works well with a team.

Education and Experience
•Customer service and job-specific training required prior to start date.
•High school diploma or GED preferred.
•Previous customer service or retail experience preferred.

Work Environment
•The majority of working hours will be spent on the sales floor, assisting customers.
•Times will also be spent in the stockroom and at the front registers.
•Shifts may vary from day to evening.
•Hours may be either part-time or full-time depending on the needs of the store.
•Light to moderate physical activity such as walking, standing, and lifting boxes is required.
