Position Description
A facilities coordinator addresses requests for building maintenance, orders supplies, oversees the organization of an office, update phone and computer systems, and provide other administrative support as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Facilities Coordinator
•Oversees daily administrative and clerical activity in facilities office.
•Answers phones, receives faxes and responds to emails.
•Receives requests for building or equipment maintenance.
•Performs maintenance when possible.
•Assigns technicians or specialists to repair equipment as necessary.
•Places orders for supplies and equipment.
•Oversees delivery and installation of equipment.
•Performs routine inspections of office, classroom, or building space.
•Tests building security systems.
•Updates computer systems as needed.
•Assists in recruiting and hiring facilities office staff.
•Maintains records of maintenance and other facilities activity.
•Troubleshoots computer problems.
•Acts as liaison between different company departments to ensure that problems are appropriately resolved.
•Ensures that all supply orders, maintenance and activities adhere to set facilities budget.
•Oversees payroll process for facilities department.
•Coordinates and manages schedule and calendar for facilities department.

Education and Experience
A facilities coordinator holds a high school diploma and an Associate’s Degree or a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Management. Facilities coordinators are also required to have at least 2-3 years of experience working in a facilities department or in a managerial or coordinator position.

Work Environment
A facilities coordinator spends the majority of his or her working hours in an office setting, overseeing and organizing facilities services. A facilities coordinator also spends time visiting other offices and buildings to conduct inspections or perform maintenance when necessary. Most coordinators work 40 hours per week, though may need to be on call in the off-hours to handle any building emergencies that arise. Daily physical activity, including some heavy lifting, may be required.

The average salary for a facilities coordinator is between $50,000 and $60,000 per year. Salaries for the most established and experienced coordinators who work for large or high profile organizations, however, can reach as high as $90,000 per year.
