A Database developer basically manages and arranges data in one system. They organize all files of the company including transactions, inventories and profiles. They are the ones who are in charge of securing important data and files in case it is needed or lost. Database developers also record and change information in a database. They provide a useful access of the data through a management system and maintain the program.

Database developers work closely with administrators and the program users for them to know what kind of information will be stored in the system. They basically perform various computer tasks to be able to analyze, improve and execute systems for organizational purposes of data. A database developer is also assigned to establish the organization of data; give the functions of the database; create designs of the database system; check on the performance of the system through the database users and develop it to improve it more; give systems training to its users and provide technical support to users; and customize the database according to the definite need of the users.

To become a database developer, one must have a bachelor’s degree in computer science. Depending on their needs a company would also require specific computer programs a database developer must know like, Oracle, Java, SAP, etc. More opportunities await a well experienced database developer with a master’s degree in business administration.

The database developer’s strengths are found in computer systems. One must be excellent in computer programming and methods. They can work well with a team and can also work alone effectively. Most of the time a database developer’s office is secluded from other offices because of restricted and private information they work on. They often work with a small number of other computer programmers that required them to present, analyze, execute and improve systems. Database developers can work in different types of institutions that require customer service, banking, health care, education and governing laws.
