Dear Ms. Powell,
I happened to notice today that you were advertising an opening for a Laboratory Technician at your hospital, and I would be very pleased if you would consider me for the position. I am enclosing my resume for your convenience.
My current posting is as a Lab Generalist performing hematology and blood chemistry testing, parasitology, and urinalysis. I set up and run tests, read results and prepare lab reports, and I consult with other team members and professionals such as physicians and pathologists in order to evaluate results.
I completed my post-secondary training at Andreafski School in 2010. I am a certified Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) and member in good standing of the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP.)
My people skills are outstanding, and I am able to put even the most nervous patient at ease when it comes to collecting blood samples. I am a self-starter, with excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task in a very demanding environment. My communication skills – both oral and written – are strong. I am also fluent in Spanish.
I follow both the principles of Good Clinical Practice and proper laboratory techniques conscientiously. I take very seriously my responsibility to avoid the risk of sample mix-ups, mislabelling, and cross-contamination.
From the above I am sure you will agree I am perfectly qualified for the job. I would love to have the opportunity to discuss the position with you at more length. Please call to schedule an interview.
