It was with great interest that I read your advertisement this weekend for a broadcast DJ at your radio station. I would be thrilled to join your broadcast team, and immediately decided to write you regarding my candidacy. Please find enclosed my resume and references, as well as an audition CD.

I began disc jockeying back in high school, when I traveled throughout the school district to play dances. I also learned about broadcast radio by volunteering for the school’s student-run radio station. While there, I did everything from spinning tunes to reporting on news and sports, to selling on-air advertising time to local businesses.

After I graduated, I continued to work in community radio, where I hosted a number of different shows over the years. I also moved up from disc jockeying school dances, to weddings and other social events. Eventually I began to DJ in clubs and to give special performances at peak times of the year such as New Year’s Eve. I know how to work a crowd, and how to target musical selections to the audience. I can start my week emceeing a sweet sixteen party, go on to DJing a rave, and finish with an upscale children’s party attended by influential members of the business community.
